The students of division 6 were super pumped to have their first Mystery Skype today. After lots of researching, and learning about mapping and questioning, we finally put our skills to the test! The students worked amazingly in teams. We had our researchers, our logical thinkers, mappers, questioners, photographers, and greeters all working together to locate the mystery location. The students did such a great job that we ended up guessing the mystery location first! (Yes! We won our first Mystery Skype!) We figured out that we were skyping with Mr. Getz's grade 5 class in York, Pennsylvania.
Shortly after we guessed their location, they were able to figure out where we were. We then had some time to ask each other questions about where we lived, our schools etc. We learned that, like us, they have 26 students in their class, and that they were 3 hours ahead of us. By the time we were done with our Mystery Skype, it was the end of the school day for them, but only recess for us! The topic of Donald Trump came up several times which we all thought was pretty funny. We also learned that they started their school year at the end of August and do not get 2 weeks of holidays at Christmas and Spring Break like us. They were quite jealous!
The class was buzzing the rest of the day about how much fun they had with Mystery Skype. Little did they know how many skills they were using to find the mystery location. We are looking forward to our next Mystery Skype!
