Division 6 had a busy day today! We began our day by exchanging Valentine's with our classmates. It was so great to see the smiles on the students' faces as they each received kind notes and sweet treats. Soon after that, we made our way to the Surrey Art Gallery for our second visit. This time we enjoyed the Scott Billings, Don Hutchinson, Eadweard Muybridge, and Harold Edgerton exhibits. Students had the chance to take in modern works of photography and sculpture along with Surrey student work surrounding the theme of 'Canada 150 years'.
Our tour was followed by the World of Clay workshop where students had the opportunity to work with April. They learned about texture, design and how to work with clay. Students were guided through different techniques and made a clay pot of their own. I was so impressed by the artistry and creativity each student demonstrated during the workshop and hope that everyone is proud of their creations.
We are waiting for the clay pots to fully dry and will be painting then soon!
After our morning at the art gallery, we returned to school where we held our catapult challenge. Students launched candy cinnamon hearts. We had 3 categories. 1) farthest launch 2) accuracy 3) best looking design.
Finally, after our launch, students spent the rest of the afternoon opening and enjoying their Valentine's they received in the morning.
It was a fun filled day, and I hope that all the children enjoyed the day as much as I did.
A special thank you to Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Chaudhary, Ms. Fieisen, Mrs. Lee, and Ms. Bollana who took the time out of their busy schedules to help transport and supervise the students at our field trip. These trips would not be possibly without you. THANK YOU!
